While we generally recommend using a wired connection as it is faster and more reliable, we also understand that this won’t always be the case in some setups.
Thankfully, the Mvix CMS will allow you to adjust your Wifi settings directly from the Device Library. Simply follow the directions below to get it set up.
What You’ll Need:
- A BrightSign digital signage player
- Ethernet Connection (Required to configure the WiFi settings)
- Network with wireless access (WiFi connection)
- Access to the Mvix CMS
Important Note: Your BrightSign player must be plugged in via an ethernet connection during this process. This is due to your the CMS requiring a connection to your device before changing any settings via the cloud.
Accessing The Wifi Controls
- From the Device Library (which can be found under “Devices” module), locate the player you would like to edit.
- On the far right of your selection, (1) hover over the three dots and (2) click “Edit”. This will bring up the below window.
- Scroll down until you find the (3) Network Settings box. At the top-right of the box, you will see a pencil icon. Click that to begin editing.
- First, please ensure that both the (4) Wired & (5) Wireless DHCP toggle are set to “On” (Green).
- Then, enter the (6) name of your Router as well as the (7) password to access your wifi connection.
Note: Most wifi passwords are case-sensitive. As such, please ensure your password is entered exactly as it’s set up on your router.
- Lastly, (8) click “Save & Reboot” then (9) “Update” to finalize the changes.
Testing Your Device
Before you install your devices, we recommend testing to see if the wireless connection is working and stable.
First, unplug the ethernet cable from your BrightSign player. Then, you can either:
- Go back to the Device Library. You should see if the device is still listed as active. If it shows as inactive, then this means your wireless is not set up correctly. (Note: Please wait about 15 minutes for the system to update before using this method)
- Connect an HDMI cable from your player to a TV and publish a new schedule to your device. If the content updates, then your wireless setup is working correctly.
