Groups and Tags are two methods of sorting and filtering content.
Tags are the more simplistic of the two and can be tied to one or multiple different media. In contrast, Groups are more feature-rich and can have broader implications. However, content can only be in one group at a time.
What You’ll Need
- A compatible digital signage player e.g. Mvix, BrightSign
- A supported feature package
- Internet Connectivity
Differences Between Groups & Tags
Groups:
- Content can only have one group applied at a time.
- Used to manage permissions
Broad categories can be specific departments like human resources, accounting, etc.
Tags:
- Content can have multiple tags applied at the same time
- Does not manage permissions.
Tags can be narrowed down to smaller categories such as menu items, months, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
How to Filter Your Media Library
- While in the media library, click the filter (1) at the top right of the module.
- From there, you can filter by either groups (2) or tags (3). If you select multiple options it will include all selected options in the filtered report.
- Click “Search” and it will display all media that match the group(s) or tag(s) you have selected.
