Adding audio to your digital signage can be beneficial in certain scenarios such as in retail or lobby environments where you do not have an audio system set up.
With Mvix CMS, you can upload your .mp3, .ogg, or .wav audio files and set them as a background zone for your templates. Read the Knowledgebase article below to find out how.
What You’ll Need
- An active Mvix CMS account
- An audio file (.mp3, .ogg, or .wav formats)
A Helpful Tip: For your audio file, we recommend a song that will match the location of your display. For example, a lighter song for a building directory in a lobby. The audio file will loop continuously as well so you should change it out regularly.
Uploading The Audio File
- From the “Add Media” module, (1) click on the “General” category and (2) select the “Files” app. (This should be the default app on the module)
- (3) Upload the audio file from one of the available options then (4) click the “Upload” button.
- Lastly, you’ll need to (5) name the file and (6) save it to your media library.
Adding The Audio To Your Template
- Either edit an already existing template or create a new one from scratch. Once your template is ready, (1) click “Add A Zone”. (Important Note: as this counts as a zone, you should ensure that your player has the required number of zones to play the template)
- (2) Click “Select existing media for this zone” and add the audio file to this zone. (Please note that you should only add one audio file as multiple audio files will not play)
- Then, (3) click on the “Move Back” option at the bottom of the template editor to hide the audio block behind your template.
- Lastly, (4) save your template and it will be available in the template library for publishing.
Additional Tips & Tricks
- As the audio file will continuously loop and play, you can schedule the audio version of the template to only play during certain hours, then set the non-audio version to play after hours.
- The audio on your TV should be only loud to hear in the general area and not overpower a casual conversation.
- The content on your TVs is the most important part of your digital signage. As such, the audio file you use should not include lyrics as this may distract your audience.
