In this article, we will be discussing the difference between schedules and playlists. Schedules and Playlists are two different tools in our content management software (CMS) that work very differently, while they both center on managing the content for your digital signage players.
What You’ll Need:
Here’s what you will need to access playlists and schedules located in our CMS:
- A compatible digital signage player e.g. Mvix, BrightSign, etc.
- Mvix CMS Software with a supported feature package
- Internet Connectivity
Playlist
A playlist allows the management of large groups of content by combining them under a single playlist name, which can then be added to a schedule and published very easily.
Schedule
A schedule allows media content to be displayed on screens on a specific day and time of the week.
Playlists and Schedules
- Mvix CMS uses playlists to assemble media into a list for the player to follow. Schedules are what actually tie the content in your account to the individual player.
- Despite the similar names and structures, they are different. Playlists are considered a type of media for our players to play whereas schedules tell the player what to display. Schedules can include playlists alongside standalone media and templates.
