The first Earth Day was held in 1970 and now there is an entire organization that coordinates and hosts related events. Statistics show this event have drawn over 1 billion people in 193 different countries.
Fun fact; did you know that the first every Earth Day still remains the single largest day of protest in all human history? That’s crazy. In 1970, 20 million people gathered in the United States.

Did you know the date for Earth Day was selected on purpose? Denis Hayes knew that the 22nd of April would be a date that worked for students, and selected this dates as it falls between Spring Break and final exams for most colleges.
There are several different ways to celebrate this day. Here are our picks:

- Replace disposable water bottles with a sustainable and reusable container or bottle
- Support companies that recycle
- Recycle and dispose of items correctly, such as batteries and metal
- Spend time outside; go on a hike to a local park or for a picnic
